The saga unfolded on March 31, 2020, when 42-year-old Danyale Harris stumbled upon a video that allegedly depicted her 12-year-old daughter in a sexual act with 22-year-old Antonio Harley. The following day, she reported the disturbing footage to the Dekalb County Police Department (DKPD).
In a press release from the Office of the Dekalb County District Attorney, it was revealed that the authorities had cautioned Harris against allowing her anger to dictate her actions and urged her not to seek revenge.
Despite this advice, in the early hours of April 1, 2020, Harris led a group of individuals, three of whom were armed, to an apartment complex near the intersection of Wesley Chapel Road and Snapfinger Road. Their target was Harley.

Upon reaching the complex, Harris directed her daughter to identify Harley's apartment. The group, with Harris at the helm, pursued Harley, who managed to retreat into his apartment. A member of Harris' group then opened fire, hitting Harley in the chest.

In response, Harley's brother, who was inside the apartment with five younger siblings, returned fire in a bid to protect his family. The ensuing gunfight resulted in the death of 19-year-old Juan Newkirk, a member of Harris' group.
Following the guilty verdicts, DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Asha F. Jackson, who presided over the trial, sentenced Harris to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole, plus an additional five years.

On March 22, 2024, a jury found Harris guilty of felony murder, aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Two other individuals involved in the confrontation were also charged.

Meanwhile, Harley is facing charges of statutory rape, child molestation, and sexual exploitation of children. His case is still pending. District Attorney Sherry Boston commented on the case, stating that Harris "is now facing the consequences of her actions."
