Kentucky Couple Lands Behind Bars After Trying To SELL Their Twin Newborns For Cash

The couple allegedly attempted to sell their newborn twin daughters for a sum of $5,000, a claim they later dismissed as a jest.

The couple, residents of Jackson County, were taken into custody and subsequently placed in the Jackson County Detention Center. Each has been indicted with the charge of promoting human trafficking.

The authorities, however, remain skeptical of the couple's defense, citing evidence provided by Davis's sister-in-law. She presented screenshots and a recorded conversation, which purportedly reveal the couple's agreement to sell their twin daughters to her for $5,000, as per police documentation.

Currently, both Davis and Keith are detained with a bond set at $10,000. They are scheduled to make a court appearance in the district court on Monday, March 25.

Despite their arrest, Davis and Keith reportedly admitted to authorities that they had agreed to sell their children, but insisted they never truly intended to follow through. Davis, while incarcerated, maintained that the offer was a jest, not intended to be taken seriously. He was quoted saying, "She said, 'I give you five grand.' I said, 'ha, ha, yeah, you can have my kids for five grand.'"

In a separate interview, Keith defended their actions, expressing hope that they would not face prison time for a crime they did not commit. She alleged that her husband's relative manipulated him into granting her custody of the babies, as per police documentation.

The incident has left the local law enforcement stunned. Chief Deputy Zachary Bryant of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office, in conversation with WKYT, revealed that this was the first instance of charges related to human trafficking in the small Kentucky county, which has a population of approximately 13,000. "Fortunately, this is the first time I've ever had to charge this, and hopefully I never have to charge it again," Bryant stated.

In the aftermath of the incident, the couple's five children have been taken into protective custody by social services, as confirmed by the authorities.
