In the early hours of Saturday, Senator Amy Klobuchar, a Democrat from Minnesota, sparked a flurry of criticism after she celebrated the passage of the latest $1.2 trillion federal spending package, averting a government shutdown.

She took to social media platform X, where she told her followers, "You’re welcome."

The spending package was approved in the Senate with a 74-24 vote, despite facing substantial opposition in the House, where a majority of Republican representatives voted against it. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican from Georgia, even proposed a motion to dismiss House Speaker Representative Mike Johnson, a Republican from Louisiana, for his role in advancing the package.

Representative Chip Roy, a Republican from Texas, lambasted the package for its failure to allocate funds for securing the U.S. southern border. He stated, "Any Republican that votes for this bill should be ashamed of themselves."

The bill's passage was also criticized by several GOP senators, who took issue with the fact that the 1,012-page package was introduced less than two days before the vote. Senator Mike Lee, a Republican from Utah, described this as an "utterly absurd, insulting and lawless suggestion that that is an appropriate legislative process" in an interview with Fox News Digital.

Senator Rick Scott, a Republican from Florida, echoed these sentiments, stating, "This is a crazy way to run the country."

The spending package has also been condemned by conservatives for its allocation of funds to progressive causes, such as organizations providing chest binders to transgender children. Critics also argue that the package is excessively large for a nation already approximately $35 trillion in debt and grappling with inflation.

Klobuchar's social media celebration of the package's passage was met with a barrage of criticism from conservatives on the platform. Author and conservative commentator John Hawkins responded to the senator's post, stating, "That's government in a nutshell. Wasting staggering amounts of our money on useless garbage we didn't want done in the first place and then wanting a thank you for it."

Royce White, a professional basketball player and 2024 U.S. Senate candidate, commented, "They have the audacity to pretend like they're doing you a favor... INFLATION. #Godspeed."

Phil Labonte, a heavy metal singer and conservative commentator, described Klobuchar's post as "like nails on a chalk board." Former UFC fighter Jake Shields expressed his frustration, stating, "We wanted the government to shut down because we are sick of you wasting all of our money."
