Bryan Malinowski, the 53-year-old executive director of the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock, Arkansas, was fatally shot by federal agents during a raid on his home earlier this week.

The authorities allege that Malinowski was involved in the unlicensed sale of numerous firearms, some of which were subsequently used in criminal activities.

According to a partially redacted affidavit filed by an agent from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Malinowski purchased over 150 guns between May 2021 and February 27, 2024. These firearms, which included two-dozen Glock 45 9mm and AR-15 pistols, were then allegedly resold by Malinowski without a firearms license.

The ATF has linked six firearms sold by Malinowski to criminal activities. Additionally, undercover ATF agents purchased three firearms from Malinowski at Arkansas gun shows. One of the firearms mentioned in the affidavit was discovered in 2022 in the possession of a 15-year-old member of the Norteño gang in California.

The investigation into Malinowski's activities began in November when a confidential informant contacted Canadian authorities with a photograph of weapons bearing visible serial numbers. These firearms were traced back to Malinowski.

Malinowski legally purchased the firearms, indicating on the purchase forms that the weapons were for his personal use. However, he is accused of reselling these firearms at gun shows where he acted as a vendor. The firearms were ordered online and then shipped to a business, the name of which was redacted in the affidavit. Malinowski would then collect the firearms from this location.

Evidence of transactions between Malinowski and his customers was found on several cellphones and electronic devices, according to the agents. An image of Malinowski allegedly selling firearms at a gun show was also released by the authorities, captured by an undercover ATF agent.

The investigators placed a tracking device in Malinowski's vehicle and monitored his movements for several days. Despite the evidence gathered, no charges were filed against him.

In a statement released by their attorney on Thursday, the Malinowski family described their experience as an "unspeakable tragedy and one that is almost impossible to understand." The family's statement read, "At worst, Bryan Malinowski, a gun owner and gun enthusiast, stood accused of making private firearm sales to a person who may not have been legally entitled to purchase the guns. For now, we will wait for all the facts to come out. In the meantime, we ask that the public and the media respect our privacy."

The ATF agents conducted a raid on Malinowski's home around 6 a.m. on Tuesday. During the raid, Malinowski was wounded in a shootout with the authorities and succumbed to his injuries on Thursday, as reported by his brother to Fox News Digital.

The family concluded their statement by saying, "Even if the allegations in the affidavit are true, they don’t begin to justify what happened."
