Renowned musician Neil Young has recently made a significant announcement regarding the availability of his music on the popular streaming platform Spotify.

Young had previously issued an ultimatum concerning his music's presence on the platform alongside controversial podcaster Joe Rogan.

In 2022, Young had threatened to pull his music from Spotify unless Joe Rogan, a prominent figure in the American podcasting scene, was removed from the platform. This ultimatum was a response to allegations that Rogan had been spreading misinformation regarding COVID-19. Despite this stance, Young has now revealed that his music is once again accessible on Spotify.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the 78-year-old musician explained that his decision to return to Spotify was influenced by the fact that other streaming services, such as Apple and Amazon, are now also hosting Joe Rogan's podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. Young expressed his concerns about the dissemination of what he referred to as "disinformation podcast features" on these platforms.

Acknowledging the financial implications of his actions, Young highlighted that Spotify constituted a significant portion of his global streaming revenue, making the decision to remove his music a substantial loss for his record company. Despite this, Young stood firm in his stance against misinformation, emphasizing that he could not support a platform that posed a threat to the public.

Furthermore, Young took the opportunity to critique Spotify's sound quality, expressing hope that improvements would be made to enhance the listener's experience. With his music back on Spotify, Young aims for audiences to fully appreciate the essence of his creations as intended.

It is worth noting that in a separate development, Joe Rogan recently secured a lucrative $250 million deal with Spotify in February.
