In a tragic turn of events, a 12-year-old boy, Travis Wolfe, has succumbed to his injuries following a car accident involving an illegal immigrant in Hazelwood, Missouri.

The accident occurred on December 20, just a day before the young boy's birthday.

According to Fox 2, the Wolfe family was traveling when their car was hit by another vehicle moving at over 70 miles per hour in the wrong lane. The driver of the other car, identified as Endrina Bracho, is reportedly an illegal immigrant from Venezuela.

Bracho now faces multiple charges, including one count of involuntary manslaughter in the first degree, two counts of assault in the second degree, two counts of endangering a child in the first degree, and one count of operating a vehicle without a valid license.

The accident resulted in six people being rushed to the hospital, including Travis Wolfe and his parents. The young boy was placed on life support at Children's Hospital, while his parents, who sustained broken wrists, ribs, a broken sternum, and other injuries, were taken to Mercy Hospital.

On March 6, Travis Wolfe was taken off life support and passed away. A family friend, in an update to a GoFundMe campaign set up for the family, wrote, "Yesterday 3/6 Travis was taken off life support. He will be forever remembered as a funny kid with a huge heart and a love for Blues Hockey. Please continue to support the family as the bills continue to grow. All the love and support is felt by the family."

Sgt. Scott Schnurbusch from the Hazelwood Police Department, who described the accident scene as having "two vehicles with heavy damage to both front ends," stated that Bracho's immigration status "did not play a part in our investigation." He added that the identification of all parties involved was challenging due to the lack of documentation or identifications in the vehicle.

Currently, Bracho is being held on a $500,000 cash-only bond and is awaiting trial. A bond reduction hearing is scheduled for April 8.

Schnurbusch also commented on the distance Bracho traveled in the wrong direction, stating, "1,700 feet is quite a big distance to travel at over 70 miles an hour on a 40-mile posted road. That’s a long way to travel in the wrong direction and not realize."

The GoFundMe campaign for the Wolfe family has so far raised over $14,000 of its $30,000 goal. This incident comes amidst strong criticism of the Biden administration's border policies and the ensuing crisis. In a similar incident in February, a Georgia nursing student named Laken Riley was killed, with the suspect being an illegal immigrant.
