Democratic Representative Adam Schiff expressed his desire for intelligence agencies to limit the information provided to former President Donald Trump during standard briefings given to presidential nominees.

In an interview with NBC, Schiff stated, "I have to hope — and knowing the intelligence community, as I do — that they will dumb down the briefing for Donald Trump." He emphasized the importance of withholding details that could compromise sources or methods, citing concerns about Trump's past behavior, stating, "we can’t trust that he will do the right thing with that information. He's been so reckless."

US intelligence officials recently confirmed that Trump would receive briefings on classified national security matters upon securing the GOP Presidential nomination, a practice in place for 72 years. A senior intelligence official informed Politico that Trump would be briefed similarly to past presidential candidates, despite his previous criticisms of the agencies.

Schiff's history with the Intelligence Committee includes his removal by former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, who cited Schiff's lack of credibility with the American public as grounds for his dismissal.

With former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley suspending her presidential bid, Trump is poised to become the Republican nominee. The official nomination is expected to take place at the party's convention in Milwaukee from July 15 to 18.
