Communication with the OceanGate Titan submersible and its five passengers was abruptly lost on June 18, resulting in a tragic incident.

According to U.S. Coast Guard Rear Adm. John Mauger, the vessel's remains were discovered 1,600 feet away from the bow of the Titanic.

Additionally, presumed human remains were reportedly recovered and brought back to land last week.

In the wake of this devastating news, numerous exploitative memes began circulating online, making light of the ill-fated voyage. Shockingly, one of these memes found its way into the physical world.

A Subway restaurant located in Rincon, Georgia, displayed a sign on its exterior that appeared to mock the Titan and its demise. The sign boldly proclaimed, "Our subs don't implode."

Upon receiving several messages condemning the sign as tasteless, WTOC 11 reached out to the store for comment.

The store manager acknowledged the backlash and confirmed that the sign had been taken down in response.

Timothy Mauck, a Georgia resident who captured a photo of the sign before its removal, expressed his disapproval, stating, "I’m sure it would be disrespectful to the family, you know what I mean? ...

It was a very uncalled for kind of thing because that’s a place of business, and for one of their employees to put that up on their sign that only lets everybody know that the situation is a joke."

The incident sparked outrage on social media, with users expressing their disappointment in Subway's insensitivity.

Twitter user @kirawontmiss wrote, "subway going to hell," while Amanda Butler posted a photo of the sign accompanied by the caption, "Not only is it distasteful, it's just sad. Do better."

However, not everyone condemned the sign. An image of the sign posted on Reddit with the caption, "Alright, who did it?" garnered a largely supportive response, with commenters praising the dark humor.

Subway has since confirmed the authenticity of the sign and assured the public that it has been removed.

This is not the first time Subway has faced a public relations crisis.
