The bodies of Jack Janway, 69, his wife Terry Janway, 68, and their grandson Dalton Janway, 11, were found at the Muskogee home, located approximately 50 miles southeast of Tulsa, according to The Associated Press. Police spokesperson Lynn Hamlin stated that investigators believe Terry Janway shot her husband and grandson before turning the gun on herself.
Hamlin further confirmed that the Janways are the parents of Chandra Janway, who is married to Jimmie Johnson.
On Monday, around 9 p.m., Terry Janway made a distress call to 911, reporting a disturbance and the presence of an individual with a firearm. Upon arrival, officers discovered a person lying in the hallway near the front door. Shortly after, gunshots were heard from inside the house, prompting the officers to remove the individual from the hallway.

After receiving no response to their calls, the police entered the residence and discovered the bodies of Terry and Dalton.

In an interview with Fox 23 on Tuesday, Muskogee Mayor Marlon Coleman expressed his shock at the incident, stating, "It was traumatizing to find out that a longstanding family who had made so many contributions to our community were involved in this type of incident." Coleman revealed that he was a friend of the family and a patient of Jack Janway's chiropractic practice.

The police have assured the community that there is no ongoing threat, as the suspect is among the deceased.
Jimmie Johnson's motor club released a statement, saying, "The Johnson family has asked for privacy at this time and no further statements will be made." Consequently, Johnson's team has withdrawn from an upcoming NASCAR race in Chicago as a result of this tragedy.
