During New York City's annual drag queen parade, LGBTQ activists chanted, "We're here, we're queer, we're coming for your children" in Manhattan on Friday.

The parade, which marked the beginning of NYC's "Pride Weekend," commemorates the 1969 Stonewall Riots, a significant moment in advancing gay rights in the United States. Hundreds of drag queens and other members of the LGBTQ community marched through Tompkins Square Park and the East Village, concluding at the Stonewall Inn.

Videos shared on social media showed marchers chanting, "We're here, we're queer, we're not going shopping," in addition to the controversial "coming for your children" chant. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a radical LGBT group, were also present at the event. The group, which describes itself as a "leading-edge Order of queer and trans nuns," is known for its satirical performances and activism. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence have previously raised funds for LGBTQ causes.

The group made national news earlier in June when the Los Angeles Dodgers chose to honor them at the team's annual LGBTQ pride celebration. Thousands of protesters gathered outside of Dodgers Stadium before the June 17 game, where the group was set to be honored. Protesters held signs declaring, "Men cannot be nuns/sisters," while others bore Bible verses.
