The family of Megan Drumheller, a 31-year-old woman from Michigan, is seeking answers after being found dead in her Carrollton Township home in January 2022.

While investigators have yet to release the manner of her death, new evidence collected from the crime scene indicates that it was a homicide. Megan's mother, Lynette Drumheller, revealed that every officer who saw the location or the pictures said it was 100% homicide, which was never on their radar. The family's attorney and Megan's aunt, Tara Pearson, said they believe they know who the killer might be but cannot reveal anything that could compromise the investigation.

During a press conference, Lynette and her husband, Tim Drumhiller, expressed their frustrations with the police investigation into their daughter's death. They claimed that the Carrollton Township Police Department failed to test all evidence from the crime scene for DNA, interview all possible eyewitnesses directly after her death, and look into all possible camera evidence. They also said that the lead detective on the case worked remotely for four or five months due to COVID-19, rarely visiting the crime scene in person. The family believes the initial investigation was "wrought with so many missteps and errors."

The Carrollton Township Police Department did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.

The Saginaw County Sheriff's Office has since taken over the investigation, and a private forensic DNA lab has taken over evidence for testing from the Michigan state lab. The Drumhillers have also hired a private investigator, whom they are not naming now. The Saginaw County Sheriff's Office said it could not discuss Megan's case due to their active investigation.

Megan's parents described her as a lighthearted, quirky, intelligent woman who loved to dance and write. She worked in retail at the time of her death and lived in a somewhat rural neighborhood with many families. Her mother said that Megan would never have let anyone outside her "small circle" of friends and family inside her home. There were no signs of a break-in at Megan's home, and her family believes she likely "trusted her killer."

The family is offering a $100,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in their daughter's homicide. They encourage the public to submit tips to the Saginaw County Sheriff's Office hotline at 989-790-5423. Anonymous tipsters can share information with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-422-JAIL.

During the press conference, Lynette expressed concern that a killer is still free, threatening everyone. She addressed the killer directly, saying, "To the person who did this to Megan, you know who you are, and I hope your nightmares far exceed ours." Tim pointed to nationwide police staffing shortages and FBI data that shows more than half of U.S. murder cases go unsolved as some of the many issues hindering justice for his daughter. Lynette added that people are walking around committing more crimes because they can, and the country should be further along in solving these cases.
