GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has pledged to pardon former President Trump and revealed his plans to dismantle the FBI.

In an interview with "Fox News Sunday's" Shannon Bream, Ramaswamy stated that the FBI would not exist as an institution under his watch.

He believes that large bureaucracies between local and federal law enforcement agencies are a formula for corruption. Ramaswamy's position opposing the FBI "going after political conservatives like President Trump" is not motivated by his political calculus, as he would "have a much easier time, frankly, in this election, if President Trump weren't in the race."

Ramaswamy's plan to dismantle government institutions does not stop with the FBI. He aims to shut down the regulatory state, focusing mainly on the "shackling" of the U.S. energy sector. Ramaswamy also believes that there are two genders, God is accurate, and fossil fuels are required for human prosperity. He defends the phrase "American nationalist," which some find controversial, stating that it means standing for the ideals that set this nation into motion, such as meritocracy, the pursuit of excellence, the rule of law, free speech, open debate, and self-governance.

Ramaswamy is concerned that American youth are no longer proud to be American and believes that reviving civic pride in the next generation is the solution. However, a piece in National Review on April 10 accused Ramaswamy of "building a ginormous mailing list" rather than running for President, suggesting he "doesn't quite know" about conservatism, though he speaks of it eloquently. Ramaswamy dismissed these claims, stating that he had put more than $10 million of his own money into his campaign.

Ramaswamy rounded out the interview by warning businesses against wading into social disputes, citing the recent issue that sent Bud Light spiraling. He believes that "woke capitalism" is terrible for capitalism and American Democracy and that apolitical spaces are needed to unite people.
