Representative Anna Paulina Luna, a Republican from Florida, announced on Thursday that she would present a renewed attempt to censure her Democratic colleague from California, Rep. Adam Schiff, for his alleged misstatements concerning former President Donald Trump.

This follows Wednesday's unsuccessful effort to pass a censure resolution against Schiff, which 20 Republicans notably rejected.

The initial resolution suggested a $16 million fine against Schiff for supposedly lying about collusion between Trump and Russia. Investigations, however, have yet to confirm such a collaboration. Luna rationalized the proposed figure as approximately half the cost of investigating Trump. Despite this, the language in the resolution about fining Schiff was met with opposition from some Republicans, including Rep. Tom Massie from Kentucky. He argued that such a fine would be a constitutional violation, which led to the House deciding by a vote of 225-196 to set aside the resolution.

On Thursday, Luna claimed to have agreed with the 20 dissenting Republicans on a revised censure resolution. This new language is expected to be presented for a vote shortly. Luna stated in an interview with FOX Business, "We came to terms and negotiations and the language that will censure and refer him to an ethics investigation because of the fact that he knowingly used his position as the chairman of House Intelligence to lie to the American people, to lie to his fellow colleagues, and also too, violated the rights, the civil liberties of individuals like Carter Page."

A spokesperson for Luna confirmed to Fox News that the congresswoman had found agreeable terms with the 20 colleagues, expressing anticipation about holding Schiff accountable for his alleged transgressions. In response to the proposed censure vote, Schiff accused the Republicans of facilitating distractions for Trump from his ongoing legal complications over retaining classified documents.

"She obviously wants to distract from the president's legal troubles, and you've got the MAGA people like Steve Bannon who are out promoting this," Schiff pointed out.

As per the draft obtained by Fox News, the proposed censure resolution omits mention of a fine against Schiff and drops accusations of him lying about the supposed Trump-Russia collusion. Instead, the revised language emphasizes Schiff's alleged "false" statements and allegations about Trump's collusion with Russia to secure the 2016 election.

The proposed resolution text reads, "For years, Representative Schiff has spread false accusations that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia." It further states, "On March 20, 2017, Representative Schiff perpetuated false allegations from the Steele Dossier accusing numerous Trump associates of colluding with Russia into the Congressional Record."

The draft also accuses Schiff of dishonest and dishonorable behavior during his tenure as the ranking minority member and Chairman of the Intelligence Committee, citing false denials of staff communication with a whistleblower leading to the first impeachment of President Trump.

The resolution concludes that Schiff is being criticized for "misleading the American public and for conduct unbecoming" a member of the House. It mentions that Schiff will present himself in the House's well, where the resolution will be publicly read as part of the censure. Furthermore, it specifies that the House Committee on Ethics will investigate Schiff's supposed "falsehoods, misrepresentations, and abuses of sensitive information."
