The Las Vegas Aces of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) have expressed their displeasure with President Biden after he congratulated the National Hockey League's (NHL) Vegas Golden Knights on their recent Stanley Cup win while ignoring the Aces' championship victory from the previous year.

The Golden Knights clinched their first-ever Stanley Cup after defeating the Florida Panthers in Game 5 on Tuesday night, a remarkable feat considering they were an expansion franchise just six years ago. Biden took to social media to congratulate the winners, calling them "the first major professional franchise in such a proud American city."

However, the Aces won the WNBA title in 2022, becoming the first professional sports team to win their respective league in Las Vegas. A'ja Wilson, a two-time WNBA MVP and star player for the Aces, was offended by Biden's snub and took to Twitter to express her frustration. She wrote, "Twitter not letting me quote tweet potus tweet but…. BFFR when is our White House visit cause…."

It is worth noting that the Seattle Storm, the 2021 WNBA champion, was invited to the White House. Women's basketball has had a rocky relationship with the White House lately, as the LSU Lady Tigers had a contentious situation with First Lady Jill Biden following their NCAA title earlier this year. Biden wanted to invite the Iowa Hawkeyes, who lost to the Tigers in the national title game, to the White House due to their competitive spirit. LSU star Angel Reese publicly criticized Biden's comments, saying she would go to the Obamas' house. The White House later returned their comment, and the Tigers eventually made the trip to Washington, D.C.

It remains to be seen whether the Aces will receive the same treatment as the Golden Knights. However, the Aces feel slighted by the President's omission of their championship victory. While the Golden Knights will likely receive a call from the White House, the Aces wonder if they will ever get their due recognition.
