EMILY's List, a political action committee that supports female candidates who are pro-abortion, is reportedly planning to invest "tens of millions of dollars" to boost Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 election.

Politico says this investment is unprecedented and reflects the lack of broader efforts to support the Vice President amid persistently low approval ratings.

EMILY's List claims to have helped elect or re-elect over 489 pro-abortion candidates to various offices during the 2022 election cycle, including Katie Hobbs in Arizona, Kathy Hochul in New York, Ilhan Omar in Minnesota, and Pramila Jayapal in Washington.

Despite Harris' impressive resume, a senior Republican strategist told Politico that "a President Harris would be even worse than a President Biden because she campaigned as a progressive fighter and had to moderate herself when she became Biden's running mate." Republicans are expected to use Harris as a "boogeyman" to push their message.

EMILY's List President Laphonza Butler, a longtime Harris ally, stated that the funding is not meant to redefine Harris but to "remind" voters of the politician's accomplishments. Butler confirmed that the investment would be in the tens of millions of dollars range, and the PAC is still in the planning stages of the exact extent of the investment.

When asked about the investment's specifics, Butler said the group would not "take anything off the table at this point" and would target specific voters online. "Some age groups and demographics get their information from things like YouTube or from TikTok. For some demographics, they are much more interpersonal and in terms of how they get and disseminate information," Butler added.

According to one of Harris' allies, the White House team did not fully understand the differences in promoting a woman in this role, and "you have to do it differently. You can't just do it the way you would with a white man, because again, people have never seen it before."

EMILY's List previously spent around $10 million when it was announced that Harris would be Biden's running mate. The PAC's investment in Harris during the 2024 election is expected to be significantly higher.
