According to a report by the Daily Mail, the mega-retail chain, Target, has become the target for right-wing extremists and left-wing woke supporters.

The issue revolves around Target's decision to remove items from its 2023 Pride collection designed by Erik Carnell.

Artist-designer Erik Carnell is described by the Daily Mail as a Satan-loving trans artist who designed the Pride collection for Target. Because of the anti-LGBTQ backlash, Carnell is unhappy about the company's decision to remove the collection from many stores.

Carnell has stated he has yet to be contacted by Target, informing him that many of his designs would be removed from the shelves or that items would be relocated. Carnell said, "They haven't tried to contact me once. In terms of informing me what I can do with my product, I'm very, very, very low priority."

Target announced Tuesday some of the merchandise promoting Pride month was being pulled because of threats to employees.

A spokesperson for Target said, "Since introducing this year's collection, we've experienced threats impacting our team members' sense of safety and well-being while at work."

The spokesperson added, "Given these volatile circumstances, we are making adjustments to our plans, including removing items that have been at the center of the most significant confrontational behavior."

The Daily Mail points out the Pride Month collection debuted at the beginning of May amid the controversy surrounding Bud Light and Dylan Mulvaney.

A consumer boycott has been launched against Target over a collection directed at children. The collection features transgender swimsuits and books, including one titled 'Bye Bye Binary.'

Target has been criticized for caving to right-wing attacks because of the decision to remove items. The store is also receiving political heat. In a tweet on Wednesday, Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom of California stated that Target's C.E.O. Brian Cornell was selling out the LGBTQ+ community to extremists.

Carnell stated the opportunity was the biggest in his career, and he was incredibly excited to showcase designs similar to those available from his online store.

Carnell stated, "I have been keeping an eye on the website. Occasionally, one or two of my products would be taken down from the website or the link to my brand page."

He added that although the decision by Target was disappointing, he could see from an objective standpoint the company's stance on keeping employees and their finances safe.
