Vice President Kamala Harris stumbled over her words during a speech in Ghana on Monday, delivering what some have described as another "word salad" on the world stage.

During a joint conference with Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo, Harris addressed several economic issues, stating that "there are a number of things...that we must do…and a lot of that work is the work that I am here to do on the continent." Her speech aimed to strengthen U.S. ties to Africa, where China has been increasing its influence through President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative.

However, Harris' speech was not without its flaws. At one point, she repeated herself, stating that "we have discussed a number of important topics, including the importance of concepts and priorities such as freedom and liberty," after already acknowledging a "wide-ranging discussion." Furthermore, Harris made an odd remark about the age of people in Africa, stating that "the median age on the continent of Africa is 19. Think about what that means in terms of potential," seemingly neglecting to acknowledge the challenges that such a young population can present.

This is not the first time that Harris' speaking abilities have come under scrutiny. During a Women's History Month speech last week, Harris repeated the word "history" multiple times, leading to widespread ridicule online. "So, during Women’s History Month, we celebrate and we honor the women who made history throughout history, who saw what could be unburdened by what had been.” Columnist Ryan Ledendecker called the speech "absolute cringe."

Harris has made several unusual comments during her speeches, such as her remark about Venn diagrams during a climate crisis event with Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm in January. "I love Venn diagrams," Harris stated. "So, the three circles — and you can do more! Nobody says a Venn diagram has to only be three circles, right?"
