Rep. Rashida Tlaib, a progressive "Squad" Democrat from Michigan, drew significant criticism recently for claiming that a brawl between Palestinian teenagers in Jerusalem was a result of the "violent apartheid government of Israel" targeting Palestinians.

Twitter provided context, revealing that the video showed police breaking up a fight between Palestinian teens. This event has highlighted Tlaib's tendency to make baseless claims about the Israeli government and its alleged treatment of Palestinians.

Tlaib's comments align with the Institute for Middle East Understanding (IMEU), a pro-Palestinian nonprofit. The IMEU shared a post on Twitter claiming that "Israeli soldiers" were attacking "Palestinians celebrating the first day of the holy month of Ramadan in occupied Jerusalem." Tlaib responded to the post with her own tweet, stating, "This is the violent apartheid government of Israel." Additionally, IMEU's website features numerous anti-Israel statements, such as baseless accusations of "environmental apartheid" and "ethnic cleansing" as a result of a supposed "Plan Dalet."

Twitter users passionately responded to Tlaib's comments, including StopAntisemitism and Yochonon Don, who condemned her tweet, "US congress member just lied on Twitter" about the video. "Don't normalize this.”

Musician Phil Labonte also mocked the "community notes" under Tlaib's post. Fox News Digital contacted Tlaib's office for comment, but no response was given.

Furthermore, FEC filings show that Tlaib's campaign and leadership PAC and the Squad Victory Fund have paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to a consulting and advocacy firm owned by Rasha Mubarak, an anti-Israel activist. Mubarak's firm, Unbought Power LLC, received $269,000 from the three entities for fundraising services between 2021 and 2022.
