The Murdaugh Enigma Continues: Family Member Mysteriously Buys Up Family Heirlooms At Auction

Now, Raw Story has a new update that details how there is yet another twist in the saga of the Murdaugh story.

According to Newsweek, Alex Murdaugh’s sister-in-law took the opportunity to attend the estate sale of the family’s belongings to purchase some of those items for herself. Therefore, it seems that at least some in the family are trying to keep some of their possessions in the family even after all that has happened.

Gerrard Kaonga reported the following: “Christy Murdaugh, the wife of Randy Murdaugh, Alex Murdaugh’s brother, took items from Liberty Auction in Pembroke, Georgia, the morning of March 23, ahead of the auction at 4 PM that same day,” and “The Liberty Auction House had previously confirmed to Fox Carolina that it was planning to auction off items from the Murdaughs’ property in Colleton County.”

A report about the estate sale said that frantic buying was happening at the sale to purchase items from the estate of the disgraced Murdaugh. People came from all over the South to purchase items from the disgraced Murdaugh’s estate.

The reporter also said: “According to a Fox News report, among the items that Christy Murdaugh collected were snakeskin-print pillows featuring Maggie Murdaugh’s monogrammed initials. A video showed Christy Murdaugh walking back and forth from a car, putting items in the boot,” and “The auctioneer did not identify the items as belonging to the Murdaugh family by name, instead saying the items came from a ‘prominent South Carolina estate.’”

Even though the estate wasn’t identified by name, it was clear to everyone there that the items came from the Murdaugh estate. This seemed to be at least part of the appeal for many people who attended the event.

Alex Murdaugh had been a powerful force in the legal profession in rural South Carolina. His family had a storied history of more or less running the town. However, he was recently convicted of the double homicide of his wife and son and sentenced to life in prison. As such, the many items belonging to the estate were put up for sale. This was also done in part to make sure there was as much money recouped as possible to help pay for some of the losses suffered by the various victims of Murdaugh’s financial crimes. Regardless, it seems that some members of the Murdaugh family still want to keep some items in the family.
