Wow, This Is Mind-Blowing: All-Girls Wellesley College Votes To Allow Non-Binary And Transgender Admissions

Wellesley College was founded in 1870 and is among the few all-girls colleges.

However, that’s about to change. Wellesley College Government Senators have voted to become an inclusive college. The college will include more inclusive language and begin accepting applications for biological males that identify as non-binary and transgender.

According to The Daily Caller, “‘The college will continue to engage all students, including transgender male and nonbinary students, in the important work of building an inclusive academic community where everyone feels they belong,’ a spokesperson for Wellesley’s President, Paula Johnson, said in a statement.”

However, everyone isn’t on board with the idea. In response to a previous statement from Johnson, one student published a piece in the school newspaper to show they were against the idea. The students plan to publish a more thorough response that includes the responses from several students in the future.

However, they did state that they view this as being problematic. Per The Daily Caller, the piece said, “For now, we would like to emphasize that President Johnson’s response is part of a broader trend of Wellesley’s administration and the Board of Trustees intervening in student discourse, which sets a problematic precedent.”

The college does not accept applications from men, including someone born female and who identifies as a man. However, they readily accept applications from anyone who identifies as a woman, even if they still have a penis. The school has updated its gender policy to be more inclusive, strives to use more inclusive language, and has more gender-friendly bathrooms.

They’ve also updated their gender policy. Previously, it was said that if a person transitions while at college and feels a women’s college is not for them, they will be supported. Now, it says that everyone is supported at the college.
