Twitter users had mixed reactions to a now-deleted tweet from The Associated Press regarding the after-party following the 95th Annual Academy Awards ceremony.

The tweet, which focused on Michelle Yeoh and Angela Bassett's "bare, muscle-bound arms," drew ridicule from several social media users. Comedian David Angelo responded with "and then.....?" while author Stefanie Iris Weiss jokingly asked for the tweet to be brought back.

Psychiatrist Dr. Benjamin Janaway commented, "Tell me you wanted to be a romance author and not a journalist without telling me," and culture writer Jill Krajewski quipped, "AP and the delete button locked in a long embrace, their bare, muscle-bound arms wrapped around each other."

Communications manager Mary Emily O'Hara observed, "Ah, the AP horny tweeting about muscular moms. Must be 2023." Musician Dan Le Sac expressed surprise at the AP's focus, tweeting, "’Their bare, muscle-bound arms wrapped around each other’… not what I would’ve focused on but you do you @AP."

The Associated Press later deleted the tweet and issued a correction. The publication's new tweet focused on the warmth and joy of Vanity Fair's annual post-Oscars party, with stars embracing the celebration after a drama-free Academy Awards ceremony.

The AP clarified that the previous tweet had "awkward wording and lacked context." The corrected sentence was also featured as the opening paragraph of The Associated Press article on the after-party. In the opening, Michelle Yeoh and Angela Bassett were described as "locked in a long embrace, whispering and laughing with glee as nearly every phone in the vicinity came out to take photos."

At the same time, Angela Bassett was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever." Jamie Lee Curtis won the award for Best Supporting Actress.
