A video is going viral after a reporter took the time to deprogram a white college student.

Savannah Hernandez is a reporter for Turning Point USA. Recently, she spoke with a college student at the University of Texas in Austin.

He tried to explain how he has white privilege. The student started by explaining that because he grew up a white man, he had different experiences. However, Hernandez then asked what privileges he had that she did not. However, the student needed help to specify his privileges and stumbled over his words.

According to Fox News, “‘Oh, see, that’s the question I keep asking myself, because, like, in this day and age, like all the laws I say, all the laws, you know, it’s hard to speak on something I’m not fully knowledgeable of. So, like, I’m sorry if I, like, make a mistake in saying this, but it’s like...ummm….’ Hernandez questioned if he thought it was a problem in society when White people think that they have more privileges than Brown or Black people.”

Then, he admitted that he doesn’t feel more privileged than anyone else because he’s worked very hard to get where he is. Hernandez asked why he felt the need to apologize and why he first saw her as a brown woman.

He then added, “Wow, you’re getting me good. See, these are the kind of conversations that I love having, and I think it comes from a place of like. I wouldn’t say caution, but like in this day and age, people are so quick to judge and react and cancel.” “And so I guess it’s at that like caution to go into an interview like this. I’m like, I don’t know where we’re at, but now I know where we’re at, and I can, like, go for real.”

One psychologist calls the situation “heartbreaking.” Per Fox News, “Canadian psychologist Dr. Jordan Peterson wrote on Twitter, ‘What we have done to young people in the name of virtue is unforgivable.”

Tweets varied with some, like The Post Millennial’s Andy Ngo tweeting, “I believe he was doing leftist skimping based on the assumption that you held those views based on your race.”

Others praised his comments, saying it was “probably the first non-aggressive interaction this kid has had about this topic.”
