Actor Rainn Wilson has accused Hollywood of an anti-Christian bias after a recent episode of the HBO series "The Last of Us" featured a villainous character who used Bible verses.

Wilson, known for his role in "The Office," took to Twitter to express his frustration with the predictable portrayal of Christians in popular media. "Could there be a Bible-reading preacher on a show who is actually loving and kind?" he asked.

Wilson's criticism resonated with others who have noticed a trend in Hollywood's portrayal of Christians as villains. "Defamation of Christianity has become the most unoriginal and tired cliches in movie/TV series storylines," remarked LIBRE Initiative President Daniel Garza. New Christendom Press CEO Eric Conn pointed out that this trend dates back centuries, referencing Mr. Collins in Austen's "Pride & Prejudice" as an early example of the preacher man being portrayed in a negative light.

Brittany Martinez from Evie Magazine wrote: "As SOON as the pastor started reading from the Bible I knew he was going to be awful. I was like ‘watch that guy be David the creepy cannibal from the video game.’ And then it was David. Shocked. Surprised. Never seen it before. He wasn’t a pastor in the video game."

"The Last of Us," is based on a video game of the same name. The story is about a group of cannibals in a post-apocalyptic world who are led by a Christian preacher. The gruesome actions of the group are driven by quoting Bible verses. This portrayal of Christianity as evil and violent is not new and has become a tired and unoriginal trope in Hollywood.

Wilson's call for a more nuanced portrayal of Christians in popular media is not an isolated one. Others have also expressed disappointment with the portrayal of Christians in "The Last of Us" and other shows. While Hollywood is free to portray religion as it sees fit, it is important to remember the impact such portrayals can have on public perception. By perpetuating negative stereotypes of Christianity, Hollywood may be contributing to a culture of intolerance and bigotry.
