Mediaite reports that the President was speaking to an audience when he referred to Donald Trump as “the former President, and maybe future President.” This got the crowd riled up, and they started to boo the President. He then quickly pivoted and said they should all offer a quick prayer.
It was strange to bring up in the middle of a speech that the President was giving about his plan to try to forgive student loan debt. The fact that Trump appeared in his mind was revealing, but the gathered audience didn’t like being reminded that Trump could become President again.

Biden took the time to compare the PPP program and student loan forgiveness. He talked about how he was in a big fight over this with Trump in 2020 as the two competed in the national election that year.

Biden said: “You may remember that I had a big fight with the former President, and maybe future President,” Then he followed this up with: “Bless me, Father,” as he made the Sign of the Cross across his body. Biden is Catholic, and this is a common Catholic practice.

The President continued to make his argument by saying that the PPP program has forgiven a “lot more” debt than student loan forgiveness would, and he insisted that 90% of the benefits would go to families that make less than $75,000 per year.
Trump fired all of the inspectors overseeing the PPP program, said Biden, and “now we’re finding out there were billions of dollars stolen, so my Justice Department is now going after them.”
Regardless of the latest arguments that Biden is trying to make regarding the PPP program versus his student loan forgiveness program, it was a strange blunder to have him mentioning how Trump could once again become President and then immediately praying. Odd indeed.
