A former top official at the FBI has issued a stark warning to students considering going to Mexico for Spring Break.

This is a popular travel destination for students looking to spend time away from the books and enjoy Spring Break fun. However, Fox News reports that the former FBI official believes it’s a bad idea for students to consider going to Mexico this year. Things have gotten so dangerous and out of hand that students are being told to reconsider where they might want to go if they want to soak up some sun and have a fun time this Spring Break.

Former FBI Assistant Director Tom Fuentes spoke on Fox News and said: “The problem with these self-contained resorts – and they have all kinds of security and protection and everything – [is] you have to get to the resort. So the danger is getting off the plane or bus or train and getting from the transportation hub to the actual resort, which there you have protection.”

This comes after four Americans were kidnaped by gang members in Mexico recently. Two turned up dead. The group had gone to Mexico intending to get certain healthcare procedures performed. However, they ultimately ended up being kidnapped and put to severely danger. They hadn’t necessarily thought out what they were doing, but they ended up in a dangerous situation regardless, and that was a scary situation.

Fuentes said: “En route, you’re in danger, just like these Americans that were killed in Matamoros – because once they crossed the border, they were on their own,” and “They might have gone on their way to a medical facility that had security guards or any of that – we don’t know for sure. But they certainly, once they crossed the border, they were on their own.”

At the same time, Fuentes stated that it does not appear that the Biden Administration does not have a comprehensive strategy of any kind for how they will deal with the drug smuggling situation at the border. That is hardly anything new from this administration, though.
