New York City has folded on its commitment to being a “sanctuary city” after just seven months of pressure from dealing with migrants shipped in from other parts of the country.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams, a Democrat, says that the city will send illegal immigrants from within the city to other parts of the country. Adams says that the strained city resources cannot handle the influx of migrants. Some conservative leaders believe that NYC is finally getting a taste of what other parts of the country have had to deal with for decades.

The Washington Examiner reports that the policy briefing by Adams’ office stated:

“As of March 2023, there were 79,937 people in shelter placement in New York City.” And “due in large part to the influx of newcomers. Our shelter system is full, and we are running out of funds, staff, and space.”

This crisis means New York City will start busing migrants out of the city and to other parts of the country. This remedy is far from what Adams preaches when lecturing leaders in other parts of the country.

Far-left-wing member of Congress Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has stated that moving migrants around the country like this might amount to “trafficking.” However, left-wing politicians such as Eric Adams now recommend these measures.

Conservatives have pointed out that hundreds of thousands of migrants cross over the Southern border into cities and towns along border states all the time. Meanwhile, New York City only had a few thousand migrants sent to the town, and they broke down and could not handle the influx of migrants to the area. That shows that many politicians and others might not be able to take even a fraction of the problem that conservative politicians have faced with this issue.
