Vice President Kamala Harris faced criticism on social media after she shared a childhood memory that was widely perceived as a politically charged anecdote with questionable authenticity.

Harris was speaking at a moderated conversation on climate policy at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities in Colorado when she shared her story.

"I grew up learning about – we called it ecology at the time and so some of us who were born around that time know what I’m saying – and we talked about it in the context of conservation," she said, laughing. "In fact, I’m going to share with you a very simple story, which is that I went home one day and I said, 'Well, why are conservatives bad, mommy?’ I thought we were supposed to conserve things."

Twitter users quickly responded, with many suggesting that the story was a complete fabrication.

2022 New Hampshire congressional candidate Karoline Leavitt wrote, "Her comms team would be wise to keep her far, far away from a camera and a microphone. Forever."

ALX, a Twitter figure, wrote, "PLEASE MAKE IT STOP."

"The Dana Show" host Dana Loesch tweeted, "This never happened."

"I'll take, 'Things that never happened for $1,000,'" special adviser for communications for Sen. Ted Cruz, Steve Guest, tweeted.

Conservative Twitter personality Andrea Katherine tweeted, "Kamala Harris asked her mother, ‘Why are conservatives bad, Mommy?’ because I thought we were supposed to conserve!’" she wrote. "Then Kamala's mom introduced her to Corn Pop, Kamala's new stepfather. Corn Pop was a bad dude."

"When I listen to Kamala Harris speak, I actually lose the will to live," investor Jason Howerton wrote.

Father Dwight Longenecker, a Catholic priest, wrote, "She thinks she is delightful."

Many Twitter users quickly expressed their skepticism and suggested that the story was a fabrication. However, some conservative commentators took a different tack and criticized Harris for her lack of authenticity in public speaking.

This is not the first time Harris has been criticized for her public speaking. This incident appears to be the latest in a string of gaffes for the Vice President.

Conservative media outlets have frequently criticized Harris for what they perceive to be a lack of authenticity in her public speaking. Fox News, in particular, has been a vocal critic of Harris and her political record.
