Fox News reports that a George Soros-backed attorney general sued the couple for defending their home during a Black Lives Matter protest/riot.
The couple spoke with Fox News Digital to express what had happened since those dramatic days. Mark McCloskey stated: “The only unforgivable crime in America is standing up against the left,”
They also said they were the victims of a personal prosecution by District Attorney Kimberly Gardner. The couple had a run-in with BLM protestors in June 2020, but the couple insists that all they ever did was stand up for and defend their home.

After the murder of George Flyod, protestors began to take to the streets in various towns and cities throughout the country. Some very large protests in St. Louis and the surrounding area prompted the confrontation between the McCloskeys and BLM protestors.

Fox News reports that there was an ongoing riot just outside of their home, and the McCloskeys were also trying to deal with many protestors who had broken through an iron gate on their property and breached the “No Trespassing” sign as well. However, some on the Left still feel that the McCloskeys shouldn’t have tried to defend themselves despite these circumstances.

The McCloskeys said: “We knew that when we saw the video [of the clash with BLM]… that it was too big of an event for the left to avoid punishing us for it.”
Both of the McCloskeys were charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon. However, nine BLM protestors outside of their home were only charged with trespassing charges, and even those charges were eventually dropped. None of that seems fair to a level-headed person, but many aren’t even attempting to look at this in a level-headed way. Some have gone off the deep end and are trying to make it seem like the McCloskeys did something wrong by protecting themselves and their home.
Mark said the following about their unfair treatment: “In our case, we were [considered by Gardner] the worst criminals in St. Louis – despite the 262 murders we had in 2020 – by standing on our front porch and defending ourselves. We got leapfrogged over 6,000 other cases, other serious felonies.”
