Actor Sean Penn is undoubtedly one to soak up the headlines constantly.

You can indeed find him in the headlines that different outlets enjoy writing. However, we must examine his motives more closely when examining what he spouts in those media outlets. The latest controversies generated by Penn are nothing short of having a potential impact on geo-political events.

According to Politico, Penn spoke in a recent phone interview and said: “The Ukrainians are flying without guided missile systems. So, they actually have to get a visual on the Russian MiGs to shoot them down,” and “Whereas the Russian fighter jets can lock in, fire a guided missile from 100 kilometers out, then duck into safe airspace.”

We must ask why Penn is taking the stands that he is taking in the Russia-Ukraine conflict in the first place. He was surprisingly fluent in some of these war machines and how they operate. However, that has given him the impression that the opinions he wants to spout off about in interviews are the actual opinions that all of us should also hold. That is something that we should certainly be careful not to fall into.

Politico reports that national security adviser Jake Sullivan said on Tuesday that more aircraft is not what Ukraine needs right now. That is a huge statement, given that the Biden White House has continued to push this narrative repeatedly. Why does the Biden White House want us to send our funding to Ukraine so badly anyway?

Sullivan spoke on CNN: “From our perspective, F-16s are not the key capability for that offensive. It is the stuff that we are moving rapidly to the front lines now.”

He continued by saying: “F-16s are not a question for the short-term fight,” and “F-16s are a question for the long-term defense of Ukraine, and that’s a conversation that President Biden and President Zelenskyy had.”

Overall, there are many questions about where Biden stands on things, where the national security officials in this country stand, and where high-profile people like Sean Penn stand. These will not always match up perfectly, and all of these camps are ultimately drifting apart from one another and doing so rather quickly. That could have an impact on how things play out.
