Former Republican Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney is set to take on a whole new role.

She has reportedly been offered a position at the University of Virginia’s Center For Politics as a professor of practice, says the University.

The Daily Caller says that Cheney’s new role will be that of a guest lecturer and participating in the University’s research projects. Her position there will run through the Fall, but it can be renewed for years.

Cheney released a statement about her latest career move, saying:

“I am delighted to be joining the UVA Center for Politics as a Professor of Practice. Preserving our constitutional republic is the most important work of our time, and our nation’s young people will play a crucial role in this effort. I look forward to working with students and colleagues at the Center to advance the important work they and others at the University of Virginia are doing to improve the health of democracy here and around the world.”

Liz Cheney is the daughter of former Vice-President Dick Chaney and a former member of Congress. She lost her seat in the Republican primary by more than 20 points to Rep. Harriet Hageman. Former President Trump had endorsed Hageman. Cheney had helped lead the charge against Trump in the January 6th hearings, and this caused many within the Republican Party to turn against her.

Cheney continued in her statement by saying:

“There are many threats facing our system of government and I hope my work with the Center for Politics and the broader community at the University of Virginia will contribute to finding lasting solutions that not only preserve but strengthen our democracy.”

She created a political action committee (PAC) named The Great Task after her defeat in 2022. This PAC’s supposed purpose is to help ensure Trump can never return to the White House.

Many will note that Cheney’s star had faded considerably from the days when she was best known as the daughter of the former Vice-President. Going against Trump in many ways put a target on her back for many in the GOP.
