A teacher is being sued after allegedly working to transition a fifth-grade student from one gender to another.

The Daily Caller explains that the teacher also taught from a book that explained how transgender hormones work and about access to sex change surgeries for minors.

The lawsuit complaint, filed on January 27th, reads in part: “[The fifth grader] who was assigned female at birth and identifies as female, was targeted by her teacher, Rosenquist, throughout the 2021/2022 school year. Rosenquist forced the then nine and ten-year-old [student] to use male pronouns and a male name. As a result, [the student] became confused as to her gender.”

The lawsuit claims that the New York school district and its superintendent were aware that the students were being taught age-inappropriate materials. However, it took months before the school system informed parents that this might be the case. Parents even say that Rosenquist was using pro-trans materials and was even encouraging students to “try being gay” or try imagining what it would be like to be the opposite sex.

Rosenquist allegedly taught from a book titled “I Am Neither” to explain non-binary identities to fifth-grade students. This goes far beyond the approved materials for fifth-graders and for students within the district, regardless.

The Daily Caller reports that the teacher used the male name Leo when referring to the student, who is a biological female. According to the lawsuit, the teacher also used male pronouns for the student starting in October 2021.

The student’s parents received a phone call from the principal in January 2022 that their child had drawn pictures of a girl with the words “I wanna kill myself” and “I feel sad a lot” over the picture. It was also said that the student spoke with a counselor at the school and stated that she was confused about her gender identity.

Administrators in the district stated that they found materials related to transgenderism and gender dysphoria in Rosenquist’s classroom that are not approved by the district for use in the classroom. This violates the rules related to the district’s policies, and the lawsuit against the district states that it was inappropriate to have these types of materials in the classroom.

The lawsuit claims: “Rosenquist pursued her own agenda outside the curriculum, which included persuading her fifth-grade students to try “being gay” or being another gender even when they were not.”

and “To further her agenda, Rosenquist read and provided her students graphic books about gender and sexuality which were not on the curriculum.” It will be interesting to see how this one plays out.
