The niece of former President Jimmy Carter spoke out to the media and stated that her uncle still has some fight in him.

The niece is Leanne Smith, and she says President Carter had a good day on Sunday and might still have some fight in him. She doesn't feel at all that it is appropriate to believe that he is necessarily going to die in the next day or two.

She spoke with Fox News Digital and stated: "He had a good day," and "In fact, about 30 minutes ago, I got a text. They knew I made broccoli and cheese soup, so before I came to meet with you, I dropped broccoli and cheese soup off to be delivered to the house, because he's eating and talking … so it is amazing. He's still got some time in him. I just feel like it."

Earlier in the month, Carter decided to begin receiving hospice care in his home. That is a choice that many people make when they are facing some of the most challenging parts of their health journey. It might be important to note this because there are a lot of people who tend to believe that this is an indication of the fact that Carter may be entering his dying days.

Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia, is where Carter used to teach Bible study, and services continued as normal even though Carter has not been present for the Bible studies for some time due to his advanced age and declining health. His niece spoke to the gathered crowd to say that everyone should be prepared to answer Jesus' call to go forth and do good things when called upon.

Church member Suzanne Smith spoke with Fox News Digital about the situation and said:

"One thing that any person that has come to this church in the last decades will tell you is that they have felt warmly greeted, they have felt welcome here,." She continued by saying: "And that's a message that the church has, that every person who is working here is welcome here, no matter your background, and, and that's the lesson that Jimmy Carter has taught as well, that he was really a president for everyone."
