Go Woke, Go Broke: Disney Starting To See Harsh Reality

They can either continue on their woke agenda of pressing forward with more and more woke-friendly content or go back to their roots and what made them a powerful company to begin with. The company is finally showing signs that they understand there are reasons to change how they approach its content creation process.

The Daily Mail reports that a top Disney executive stated that he feels the company expected too much from fans when it released its recent film, "Lightyear."

This film was an extension of the Toy Story franchise, and it might have strayed a little too far from the original storylines to be popular with fans on a deeper level. One Pixar executive said "Lightyear" flopped with the audience because they got too far off-base from the original Toy Story storyline.

This meant audiences had to grapple with the idea of a lesbian astronaut couple and other woke themes in the movie. They don't seem to have appreciated it as much as Disney might have hoped.

The Daily Mail also reports that many fans were frustrated by the fact that the voice of Buzz Lightyear was no longer being handled by conservative actor Tim Allen but was replaced with Chris Evans. On top of that, the lesbian kiss in the movie was too much for some to handle.

They did not appreciate having their children exposed to these themes and were upset that they were included in a Disney movie. Many parents felt this was one type of movie they didn't feel safe having their children exposed to. However, that has not been the case in recent history with Disney.

These poor financial results from the movie may finally get the company to understand that when you go woke, you might go broke simultaneously.
