A new bill in the Minnesota Senate would allow illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses in the state.

This is something that angers many in the state. Fox News states that the bill would allow illegal immigrants to obtain a driver’s license without any valid proof that they are a resident of the United States.

The “Driver’s License for All” legislation states that anyone applying for a driver’s license or state ID in Minnesota “is not required to demonstrate United States citizenship or lawful presence in the United States,.” This is how the legislation is written in the state at this moment in time. It could change if public pressure is put on the politicians to make those changes, but this is how things stand right now, and it doesn’t seem like they are willing to budge on this.

Minnesota state Sen. Glenn Gruenhagen spoke to KWLM about the situation and said: “What in your bill prevents that terrorist from coming to Minnesota, getting a driver’s license and getting on an airline and committing a terrorist act?”

The bill was passed by the Minnesota House earlier this week before being passed by the Senate as well. Some minor revisions were made when the Senate passed the bill, so it will now have to be sent back to the House to be passed. After that happens, it will be sent to the desk of Democrat Gov. Tim Walz’s desk for final approval.

Democrats insist that non-citizens still have to provide documents to obtain the government ID or driver’s license they might want. Still, Republicans insist that any of those documents can be forged. They are not at all pleased with the idea of so many people having the opportunity to potentially gain access to a driver’s license when they don’t have the right to even be in the United States legally.

Fox News Digital sent a request for comment to Governor Walz, but he still needs to respond to that request for comment by the time the story goes to press. Fox News wanted to clarify if the Governor would support an amendment to the legislation to allow people to apply for licenses for driving but not for flying or voting. Many people are highly concerned that a non-citizen could use their licenses to try to vote in elections they are not entitled to. It is a terrifying possibility that many want to avoid.
