The Daily Mail is reporting that some 9/11 families are warning residents of Ohio about the potential risks that they might be at risk from the recent train derailment in the area.

A lawyer representing the families of thousands of first responders and other victims of 9/11 says that this train derailment disaster might spark a “cascade of cancers.”.

Michael Barasch is the chief advocate for Ground Zero first responders and others impacted by the aftermath of 9/11. Sadly, there have been at least 69 different types of cancer that have been linked explicitly to the 9/11 attacks, including some types of cancer that are just now being diagnosed and introduced.

He spoke with the Daily Mail and said he has grave concerns about the possibility of having other cancer situations arise from this accident in Ohio as well.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Barasch said: “When I heard the EPA say that the water is safe to drink the air is safe to breath, I literally had shivers go down my neck.” and “Those are the exact words that the EPA used 21 years ago when they tried to assure downtown New Yorkers that it was safe to come back to work, or go to school, for the first responders to be in the Pit. It wasn’t.”

This is something that Barasch has seen firsthand with the victim’s families that he has dealt with before. He says that he fears that an explosion of cancers will emerge from the Ohio train derailment just as there were from the terrorist attacks of 9/11. If that turns out to be the case, it could be yet another disaster.

The Norfolk Southern train derailed on February 3rd, carrying tons of toxic cargo. Due to the derailment and the threat of an explosion, it was determined that a controlled release of the materials was the safer route to take, so that is what the Governors of the various impacted states ordered.

The town’s 6,000 residents were evacuated because of a fear that the explosion could become a reality. Now, they are being told that it is safe for them to return. The scary thing about this is that they will be walking directly back into a situation that some are fearful could be highly unhealthy. Time is the only thing that will tell, but many fear it could be a bad situation.
