Former President Trump recently visited East Palestine, Ohio, where a Norfolk Southern train derailed on February 3rd, causing the city's evacuation.

The train had been carrying toxic chemicals, and the Governors of Pennsylvania and Ohio agreed that a controlled release of some toxic chemicals was the safest way to handle this situation. They feared that not doing so might mean they would end up with an explosion on their hands, which would be a far worse situation for all.

Fox News reports that Trump sought to highlight the "forgotten" Americans. He said that he feels that the Biden Administration has forgotten and overlooked some Americans amid this disaster. Still, Trump wants those people to be recognized and understood as struggling as much as anyone else.

Trump spoke with a gathered crowd and said: "You are not forgotten. We stand with you. We pray for you. And we will stand with you and your fight to help ensure the accountability that you deserve."

He added: "The community has shown America's tough and resilient heart. And that's what it is. This is really America right here. We're standing in America."

He gave this speech after helping out earlier in the day to deliver water and cleaning supplies to residents in need in the area. He was said to have delivered his water brand to those needing help.

East Palestine Mayor Trent Conaway; Sen. J.D. Vance, R-Ohio; Rep. Bill Johnson, R-Ohio; State Rep. Monica Robb-Blasdel; and Ohio State Sen. Michael Rulli joined the former President on this mission, and there were also several states and local officials that joined in the crusade as well. They all wanted to make sure they were doing their part to show the community that they were trying to do at least something to help put the community back on its feet.

The train derailment by the Norfolk Southern train happened along the border between Ohio and Pennsylvania. Still, residents in the area are highly concerned about the long-term impacts of this chemical release. This is why the Governor of Ohio and the Governor of Pennsylvania worked together to decide on the controlled release of toxic materials from the train instead of risking the potential for an explosion.
