A Bay Area high school is in big trouble after it was revealed that a teacher there was distributing and teaching anti-semitic material.

J Weekly reports that students at Hayward High School were given anti-Semitic materials as part of the lesson plan assigned to them. These materials included conspiracy papers that attacked people of the Jewish faith. Additionally, some students at the school insist that the teacher who provided this has also sometimes made the “Heil Hitler” salute.

Henry Bens, a teacher at Mt. Eden High School, introduced a required lesson plan about the Holocaust memoir “Night,” by Elie Weisel, handing out documents titled “The Hidden Tyranny” and asking students to make markings on the text as they read it.

“The Hidden Tyranny” is subtitled “the Satanic Power which Promotes and Directs Chaos in Order to Lay Low All Civilization in Preparation for a Well-Outlined Plan for World Dictatorship,” and seeks to expose Jewish secrets for world domination by manipulating U.S. politicians to make them work for their benefit.

Students present for this said that Bens claimed he was trying to “remove the blindfold” from their eyes and help them see how the world works.

“His reasoning for teaching it was because he was like, oh, you guys are indoctrinated,” said sophomore Jolene Sa when speaking to J Weekly.

Fellow English teacher Heather Eastwood learned of the materials being passed out to students and was disgusted by them. She immediately reported what was happening so that it could be appropriately addressed. She believes that it is highly inappropriate that these materials are being handed out to students.

District spokesperson Lauren McDermott said, “This district does not condone any type of hateful or biased rhetoric, including antisemitism,” and “We take these allegations very seriously and have launched an investigation. Hatred and discrimination, in any form, is not welcome at Hayward Unified School District.”

J News reached out to the school and the principal for comment on this story, but there was no immediate response to their request. They obtained some of the materials that students had been given because those students kept copies, as well as some of the notes they took while in class.

A school board meeting was held recently, and many parents stood up and spoke out against the teacher who handed out these materials.
