They attempted to dupe tourists by creating a fake tomb for those individuals to explore. They also wanted to try to steal from antique traffickers by promising them they had some hidden Egyptian materials that the public had not seen. This highly organized scheme was nothing more than fraudsters trying to make money for themselves.
Egypt’s Public Prosecution office issued a warrant to go after the fraudsters trying to pull the wool over the eyes of those who might have come to the Tomb. Ancient Tomb reported that the fraudsters are under investigation at this time. The fraud was exposed when a group of men was pulled over in a pickup truck on February 15th.

Fraudsters built a replica tomb in an area known as Beni Suef in El Hibeh. The area is reportedly full of riches of historical significance.

That is precisely what they attempted to do, and they nearly pulled it all off, but they couldn’t get out of their way. The authorities caught up with them on this one, and they were exposed for what they had done to try to trick people into paying high prices for the supposed riches they had uncovered.

Ancient Origins found pictures of the fake artifacts that the fraudsters created. They saw pictures of a room the fraudsters had created and found what appeared to be hieroglyphs and even some gold plates.

Archaeologists from Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities examined the site and determined the materials were fake. They figured that the people who created this room had done so as a stunt to create a scam that fooled traffickers and others.

One man from Egypt reported that the fraudsters spent an entire year setting up the room how they wanted it to look. They then purchased the fake artifacts from China and took pictures to make it appear they were looking at a genuinely new tomb. That was not the case, and now the fraudsters are looking at some potential severe penalties for what they did. It is something that they called upon themselves, but they almost got away with it.
