Crime is getting out of hand, evidenced by the fact that a Florida reporter was recently gunned down while trying to report on the earlier shooting of a 20-year-old woman in their local market.

The New York Post said authorities in the area stated that the suspect gunned down the journalist from an earlier shooting in the same area.

Two other people were injured in this second shooting, including another reporter from Spectrum News 13. According to Orange County Sheriff John Mina, the gunfire in this second shooting went off around 4 pm on Hialeah Street in Pine Hills.

The suspected gunman is 19-year-old Keith Melvin Moses. Sadly, when he returned to start shooting a second time, he killed the reporter and a 9-year-old girl.

The reporter who was struck and killed was later identified by his family as 24-year-old Dylan Lyons. A photographer on the scene was also taken to the hospital in critical condition after being struck by the gunfire.

Shortly after this situation, the shooter went to a home just off Hialeah Street and shot the 9-year-old girl and her mother. The 9-year-old girl has sadly lost her life. Meanwhile, according to reports by the sheriff’s office, the girl’s mother is currently fighting for her life in the hospital.

Sheriff Mina said: “At 19, he had a lengthy criminal history to [sic] include gun charges, aggravated battery and assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, and grand theft charges.”

He went on to say that it is believed that the first victim in all of this, the 20-year-old female victim, is believed to have some connection to the suspect. However, it is believed that the remaining victims had no connection to the suspect.

Mina said: “The suspect is not saying much right now,” and “It is unclear if he knew they were news media or not.”

He pointed out that the news van could not be identified based on markings, but he said that the film equipment would have been prominent and easy to see. This might have drawn the suspect’s attention and made him decide that he wanted to shoot at those reporting the first shooting he committed. It is unclear what prompted him to shoot these individuals, but it is a tragic story that has left many lives shattered simultaneously.
