“The View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin apologized after falsely claiming that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is attempting to “erase Black history.”

Fox News reports that on Thursday’s broadcast, Griffin stated that DeSantis was trying to erase Black history for his opposition to an AP African American Studies course that had previously been offered in Florida. However, DeSantis says that the curriculum offered in these courses had a “political agenda,” which is why he has banned it in the state.

The comments by Farah Griffin received a lot of backlash for her comments, and Fox News even ran a story about some of the backlash she received for her misguided comments. After that happened, this made her aware that she had made some incorrect claims. It seems like it was enough to have shaken her up to realize that she needed to issue an apology.

She wrote the following on Twitter: “Sooo I got tripped up on a point re: DeSantis/ AP black history on air & accidentally misrepresented what the Governor is challenging,” and “It’s more narrow than how I framed it, & while I still personally disagree, I own that I explained it wrong.”

She continued by saying: “My mom always taught me that when you’re wrong admit it, say sorry, and get it right next time.”

DeSantis press secretary Bryan Griffin (no relation) replied by tweeting:” ‘Accidental misrepresentation’ is a bizarre phenomenon in corporate media that seems to happen a lot when talking about @GovRonDeSantis. Truly inexplicable.”

He contends that the corporate media appears to take many swipes at his boss with little regard for the facts. They want to cut down DeSantis whenever possible, precisely what the corporate media and many on the political Left have been doing.

The press secretary followed up his tweet by saying: “Nonetheless, thank you @Alyssafarah for correcting the record and speaking up for the truth.”

The host apologized on Twitter but made no on-air comment about her apparent mistake. Some people might not even have known that she issued an apology if they didn’t happen to be on Twitter and following the host. Therefore, some say this seems like a shallow apology because a small group will only see it as people. Those individuals have self-selected to follow the host, a small group indeed.
