Chi-Town Heading For DISASTER With These Stats From This Weekend

In Chicago, the weekend ended with a total of 19 people shot, two of which were fatal. ABC 7 Chicago reported on the incidents and coupled it with Chicago Sun-Times data on Chicago violence.

On Friday night, a man in a residence located on South May Street in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood of Chicago was injured by a bullet that had been fired from outside of the home.

According to police, the incident happened around 11:37 p.m. The bullet that penetrated the window hit the 39-year-old male in the neck. He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

Saturday evening, a man was shot and killed while sitting in a car in the West Side's Lawndale neighborhood. 41-year-old Orlando Ware was in the vehicle on Lexington Street when a person in a silver sedan drove by and fired multiple shots at him. Ware was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and succumbed to his injuries there.

On Saturday night, three people were injured, two of them critically, in a drive-by shooting on Chicago's Southwest Side, according to police. The incident occurred in the 3400 block of West 79th Street in the Ashburn neighborhood shortly after 10 p.m., with shots being fired from a dark-colored Charger. The driver, a 23-year-old male, was shot in the torso multiple times and taken to Christ Hospital in a critical state.

Another passenger, an 18-year-old male, was hit in the head and also taken to Christ Hospital in critical condition. The other passenger, an 18-year-old female, was grazed in the shoulder and transported to the same hospital in good condition.

On Sunday night, a 16-year-old male was fatally shot in the North Lawndale area, according to police. The teen was walking on a sidewalk on South Keeler Avenue at 8:30 p.m. when two men got out of a vehicle and began shooting at him. He was later taken to Mount Sinai Hospital with a chest wound and was pronounced dead.

As of now, no arrests have been made in any of these violent cases.

The Sun-Times homicide database shows that 47 people were killed in Chicago January 1, 2023, through February 5, 2023.
